Terms of use

By using Handletone you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

• What it is. A free toy that mixes random words into username ideas. The names are made by chance from word lists. They are suggestions only.
• Not connected to Instagram. Handletone is not made, endorsed or supported by Instagram or Meta. Instagram is a trademark of its owner and is named here only to describe what the names are for.
• No promise a name is free. We don’t check whether a name is available, allowed, or already used by someone else. The “Check” button just opens that address on Instagram so you can look yourself. Availability can change at any moment.
• Your choice, your responsibility. You alone decide which name you use and are fully responsible for it, including making sure it doesn’t break any law, platform rule, trademark or other right, and doesn’t mislead or offend anyone. Random combinations can sometimes mean something we didn’t intend.
• Words you type. If you add your own word, you are responsible for it. Don’t use the app to impersonate anyone.
• Using the names and pictures. You may use the names and the pictures you download for any lawful purpose. We claim no rights in them and give no promise that they are free of other people’s rights.
• As is. The app is provided free and “as is”, without any warranty. It may contain errors, show odd or wrong translations, look different on your device, be unavailable, or change or stop at any time without notice.
• Liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, STUDIO MERLIN, s.p. is not liable for any damage or loss arising from using or not being able to use the app or any name it suggests, including lost accounts, disputes over names, lost saved names or reputational harm. As the app is free, our total liability is limited to zero euros.
• Your indemnity. If someone makes a claim against us because of a name you chose, a word you typed or how you used the app, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses.
• What we don’t limit. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent, gross negligence or harm to life or health caused by our fault, or your mandatory consumer rights.
• The design. The app itself (its look, code, word lists and texts) belongs to STUDIO MERLIN, s.p. Please don’t copy the app.
• Law. Slovenian law applies. Courts in Slovenia have jurisdiction, unless your mandatory consumer rights say otherwise.
• Changes. We may update these terms at any time. The version on this page applies.

Privacy

• Nothing you do is sent to us. Names are mixed entirely in your browser. We don’t receive or store the names you see, save or copy, or the word you type.
• On your device. Your saved names and settings are kept in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device only. You can delete them in the app or by clearing your browser data.
• Instagram. When you press “Check”, your browser opens instagram.com. From then on, Instagram’s own privacy policy applies.
• Server logs. Like any website, our server briefly records technical data (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) to keep it running and secure. We don’t use it to identify you. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
• No cookies, no tracking, no ads. So there is no cookie banner.
• Your rights. You can ask us about your data, or to correct or delete it, by writing to tassh@studio-merlin.com. You can also complain to the Slovenian data protection authority: Informacijski pooblaščenec, Dunajska cesta 22, 1000 Ljubljana, www.ip-rs.si.
